Welcome to the Sun Peaks Family Cup official website.

The Sun Peaks Family Cup event is an annual event conducted by the Australian Sun Peaks Family Cup Committee in association with our Canadian partners from Sun Peaks Resort and Sun Peaks Tourism.

The Australian Committee is headed by Andrew Wenham & David Joseph along with Steve Cooper, Bec Masterton, Wendy Pinkerton and Alan “Barney” Davis. Our Canadian partners include Christopher Nicolson, Al Raine & Anne Haight.

Primary Sponsorship and support of the event is provided by Travelplan Ski Holidays (Australia), Delta Sun Peaks Hotel, the Sun Peaks Resort and Event Supplies (Australia).

With over 100 competitors in 2011 from five Countries (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Hong Kong & Singapore) Australia won the coveted Sun Peaks Family Cup Country Award closely followed by Canada.

The Sun Peaks Family Cup Event Week has run for the last four years, and folllowing the continued success with the 2011 event, the Sun Peaks Family Cup Event will once again beheld from Wednesday 4th to Sunday 8th January 2012.

The Sun Peaks Family Cup is a family style Snowsports event open to any individual, family or team from any Country. The youngest competitor to date was 4yrs 10mths and the oldest (declared age) was 71yrs. The event is conducted on a modified Dual GS type course and is suitable for all standards of competitor.

Awards are presented to all competitors who place in the top three of their respective division along with awards for the top three placing in the smallest time difference between two eligible timed runs on the course. Each competitor is allowed one run on each of the Blue and Red Courses which comprise approx 26 gates per course.

Apart from the Snowsports event there are many other activities planned for the 2012 event week, including:

  • The Childrens Obstacle Course on Wednesday 4th.
  • The Skating Party on Thursday 5th.
  • The High Roller Mountain Marathon followed by the Welcome Cocktail Party on Friday 6th.
  • The Sun Peaks family Cup on Saturday 7th.
  • The Cross Country Kookaburra Cup and Tubing party on Sunday 8th.

The Sun Peaks Family Cup entry fee of only $15 includes the Snowsports event on the Saturday, a souvenir race bib and the Tubing Party on the Sunday. The Kookaburra Cup Cross Country Competition on the Sunday also has only a $15 entry fee, whilst all other events such as the Skating Party, The Obstacle Course and the High Roller Mountain Marathon have a $10 entry fee.
